I started in the Cat ET software group working for Heinz Schlack. My first job was to be a technician for an engineer, but he left 2 days after I started for John Deere. I picked up his responsibilities for EC-28 (subset of EC-1) testing as well as Project Manager for the Cat ID Dash display used on On-Highway trucks & Ag tractors. I also worked with Mark Hilbert & Gary Tipsword on the development, testing, & release of the Communication Adapter 2 product. I took on Support responsibilities for Cat ET, Comm Adapter 2, Cat ID, FIS, Pocket Tech, MSS Key Management Software, PCS software, as well as other products in the OIP section. I covered all of the hardware testing for the group, as well as building harness & maintaining & wiring the ECM test racks. For the Cat ID product, I performed audits of the manufacturing facility as well as tested & reviewed all the warranty claims.

I am working with Troop 163 on developing youth & adults by leveraging Program planning guidelines & outlines. Scheduling meetings, coordinating with youth leaders on upcoming events & meetings. Enabeling youth & adults to learn & develop their leadership, teamwork & planning skills in a safe environment. Ensuring that the proper plans are in place for a safe & secure meeting / outing for the youth. Coordinating with the adult leadership in the Troop.

I have been on Staff at the W. D. Boyce Council Pow Wow course for the last 3 years. I have taught New Tiger leader training, Pack Communication, Pack Planning & Geocaching to numerous leaders. I was honored to have coordinated the 2014 & 2015 University of Scouting training event for the W. D. Boyce council.

I was a participant at the C-20-08 Wood Badge Course, which is one of the best General Leadership courses offered anywhere & teaches you fundamental Leadership skills & traits.I was requested to be on Staff for the C-06-10 course, where I was a Troop Guide for the Eagle Patrol. This was a great honor & I learned even more about the course & the material taught. As a Troop Guide it was my responsibility to work with 5 participants in the course to present training materials to them as well as help guide them through the course. As with any good leadership course, you have to adjust your teaching skill & approach for the group, you also have to learn to step away from the group & allow them to work together and form their own methods & synergy. This course was a great opportunity for me to continue to develop my leadership skills while providing a service to other Leaders / people.

I worked with Jason (Cubmaster) on developing Activity Sheets for all the Pack events. We created a new Teepee building event that the scouts enjoy. I planned the pack Calendar & reserved locations. I enjoyed planning 4 campouts each year: August Pack Family Campout (to kickoff the year with a camping Pack meeting), Cub Scout Yukon Event (Council level event that I suggested to the Wotamalo Committee), Pathways event (that we turned into a Friday - Sunday campout for our pack), Memorial Day Backyard campout (in Jason's backyard), Lincoln Pilgrimage event for our pack. I also enjoy working with the new leaders on planning & choosing Pack meeting activities. Jason & I spent alot of time organizing the Pack Meetings & documenting things so they could be improved upon the next year, especially the Pinewood Derby & Blue & Gold events.

Troop 163

I am working with Troop 163 & Rick (Scoutmaster) on developing Program planning guidelines & outlines for the scouts to leverage. Scheduling meetings, coordinating with youth leaders on upcoming events & meetings. Ensuring that the proper plans are in place for a safe & secure meeting / outing for the youth. Coordinating with the adult leadership in the Troop.

2008 staff, 2009 - 2011 Program Director responsible for planning activities, advancement, staffing (typically 20 people), logistics, facilities, budget, trading post items & station supplies, as well as communication on map/layout of camp, schedule, rotation of the 7 stations, noontime programs for 160 - 200 scouts from Woodford, Tazwell, Mason, Logan Counties that attend. This is the largest single 5 day Day Camp in the W. D. Boyce Council.

I started as a Tiger Leader (1st grade scouts) in 2007 & was recruited by Shanon Cole & Jason Koller to be a leader. I ramped up to speed & developed the Tiger year plan & schedule for the other 2 dens to follow. As I moved onto the Wolf year (2nd grade) with my son, I developed the Wolf year plan & shared that with my 2 other Wolf leaders & then shared the Tiger plan with the incoming Tiger Leaders. I did the same for the Bear year (3rd grade) plan & shared all my previous info with all leaders in the pack. The Webelos years, I am having the scouts in my den pick something out of the Webelos book that they are interested in, then they are working with Scott Borlin, myself & their parents on planning & running the Den Meeeting. This will prepare the scouts for Boy Scouts & hopefully make it a smoother transition for them on the next stage of their journey.
