Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

I was employed as a Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer and reported to various Company Men / Drilling Supervisors (DSV), supervising teams of Fluids Specialist and Lab Technicians, formulating drilling fluids to specific specifications and maintained drilling fluids during drilling operations onboard of semi-submersibles, drillships and jack-ups involved with deepwater and HPHT projects.• Attending daily operations meetings with head of departments and also morning calls with onshore management.• Actively involved with daily and weekly HSE meetings. • Coordinated logistics, personnel and fluid / chemical inventories.• Monitored solids control equipment and personnel to ensure KPIs were continually met. • Supervised replacement of shaker screens, ditch magnets, centrifugal pumps reported anomalies to drilling team.• Oversaw testing and reporting of fluid properties to drilling team management.• Advised operator on streamlining drilling costs and enhancing performance of drilling fluids.Key Projects:• Successfully drilled and completed 50+ deepwater wells offshore Indonesia, Australia and GOM for operators, including BHP, Anadarko, Chevron, Statoil, LL&G, Apache Corporation, Citgo, Forest Oil, Odeco Oil & Gas, ENI, Hess, Marathon Oil Corp, Nexen, Texaco, Energy XXI, Kerr McGee and Murphy Oil. • Worked closely with many drilling contractors, including Ensco, Transocean, Diamond Drilling and Global Marine.• Advised and gained buy-in to modify the rheology of synthetic based mud for a narrow margin well offshore GOM, for Spinnaker, enabling client to drill to TD with no incidents or issues saving client cost of sidetrack.• Modified innovert synthetic based mud system for HESS to counteract cuttings build up in an extended reach well, being drilling under a sensitive Indonesian Coral Reef, enabling the 12 ¼“section to be drilled without incidents or delays, saving 4 drilling days compared to previous wells.
