I have worked with industry-leading teams in investment banking, law firm and securities regulatory environments. Leveraging my diverse experience, I advise a wide range of clients in connection with M&A transactions (especially contested transactions and distressed transactions) and corporate governance controversies. I have been entrusted with advising clients in completing Canada’s largest unsolicited takeover bid, Canada’s largest insolvency restructuring and Canada’s largest public equity offering. For more than a decade, I served as one of seven directors of CIBC World Markets Inc., when the firm led the Canadian market for M&A advisory and securities underwriting transactions. I also directed the legal aspects of all of CIBC’s strategic transactions globally and was involved closely in the bank’s successful navigation of challenges arising during the Global Financial Crisis. An adjunct professor at Faculty of Law, Western University, I teach “Corporate Crises, Crimes & Culture.” I have also taught the Corporate Finance courses at Western University (JD program) and Osgoode Hall Law School (LL.M program). I am a graduate of Trent University (BA), Osgoode Hall Law School (LL.B and LL.M) and the Canadian Army's RESO Armour Officer program. In 1994, I was awarded the Canadian Forces decoration (CD).
