The Product Engineer will manage the product performance of a number of products aligned with a Segment Business Line Team to ensure that: products meet the goals for manufactured cost (BOM, yield, labour); product out of box performance meets customer expectations; product performance KPI's are communicated, targeted and delivered; product build/test issues identified in the field are dealt with appropriately in the manufacturing activity; existing product designs are reviewed to reduce the parts and manufacturing cost and recommend projects to Segment Business Line Teams that are technically and financially viable; DFMA requirements are championed; designs are compatible with chosen manufacturing processes or that the on-cycle development of a required process is undertaken; in conjunction with the Quality function, products achieve reliability standards defined as part of the manufacturing strategy.

* Implemented efficient configuration & test processes that ensure less than 1% early failure rate for products dispatched to UK and European markets.* Increased stock accuracy by relocation of spare parts plus the ongoing correction of BOM and movement errors.* Substantially reduced obsolete product right-off by implementing a rework database that tracked sale or return product, product returned from trade shows and reworked Service stock.* Project managed the ROHS conversion of spare parts and production parts used to configure drives and libraries.
