AboutRetired - still retaining an active interest in OSP fibre optic planning and QGIS development.Began work life in 1971 as an apprentice electrician with P&P Installations in north London. Completed apprenticeship whilst working with Planned Maintenance in 1976, through JIB qualification. Founded own electrical contracting company in 1977, carrying out industrial, commercial and domestic installations on behalf of private clients, electrical contractors, property developers etc.As a subcontractor re-established working relationship with P&P in the early 1980s working with them on behalf of International Computers Ltd & IBM installing electrical services for computer rooms, and air-conditioning. These works developed to include early network installations in coax cable, OSLAN( thick Ethernet) bus type. Alongside thinnet, for mainly government bodies to include NHS, HMRC, MoD, DoI, BTP, BT, Milk Marketing Board amongst many others. It was at this time work was undertaken on NATO projects particularly in West Germany for the then BAOR. This was my introduction to fibre optic networks until official retirement in 2020.Working through the 90s on various enterprise and campus network projects. Founder of Communications Engineering - operating from the 1980s through to 2000. Co- Founder of Fibertec Ltd from 2007 to 2014. Notably working for the NHS, in north London.Undertook fibre optic restoration work on behalf of Dimension Data. Worked as a subcontractor with ICS carrying out CCTV fibre networks on various projects, notably Tower Hamlets. Undertook subcontract work for Arqiva, nationwide mast and comms upgrades. As a result of these years running businesses means experience of business development, estimating, costing, procurement, relationship building, client interaction.Scope of Works & Specification authoring on behalf of clients.Nowadays, when required, works on behalf of SBD Ltd an outstanding bunch of guys with a combined 60 years experience in the OSP fibre optic industry to include route surveys and documentation/ photographic evidence, complete design and planning of civils and fibre optic infrastructure to required methodologies. Presentation of completed work packs for client approval.Looking to develop coding knowledge of Python plus developing QGis spatial data projects.
