Robert Jarski is Professor in the Oakland University School of Health Sciences and The OU William Beaumont School of Medicine. He founded and directs the Complementary Medicine & Wellness Graduate Certificate Program. He has been named Fellow and Diplomat of the American Association of Integrative Medicine. As a certified physician assistant, he has taken post-graduate training in general surgery and has extensive clinical experience dealing with patients having life-threatening illnesses such as multiple trauma and cancer.Dr. Jarski has completed specialized training in behavioral medicine at the Mind-Body Medical Institute of the Harvard Medical School. He has also completed advanced training with Dr. Bernie Siegel and he is formally trained and certified in hypnotherapy. He completed sabbatical work with Dr. Dean Ornish's Heart Disease Reversal Program at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute. Dr. Jarski was named Favorite OU Faculty and nominated for the Teacher-of-the-Year Award. In addition to classroom teaching, he regularly teaches evidence-based medicine to medical students, and he supervises thesis/dissertation research of master and doctoral students. He is quoted regularly in professional publications on complementary and alternative medicine use, research and legislation. He serves as a referee and editorial board member of several professional journals, he has published numerous articles in scientific journals and books, presents regularly at national, state and community continuing medical education conferences and seminars. Dr. Jarski is a grant project reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, and he was selected from a distinguished group of international scholars to participate in the Academy of Consciousness Studies at Princeton University.
