This role was deeply focused on human and animal primary cell isolation: Hepatocytes, dorsal-root ganglia, renal, etc.

As a process development manager, I spearheaded the introduction and evaluation of the effects of process improvement methods on cell therapy products. My expertise included conducting detailed risk analyses, identifying critical process parameters and quality attributes, and designing studies to assess improvements. By presenting data-driven results, I ensured informed decision-making and continuous advancement in cell therapy production.

As a manufacturing and process improvement manager, I led a team of six in optimizing GMP production of human liver cell suspension as an intermediate for a cell therapy drug product treating acute liver disease. My role encompassed implementing process improvements, managing hiring and training, and ensuring seamless manufacturing schedules and GMP suite maintenance.

As a production manager, I supervised the production of fresh and cryopreserved primary hepatocytes and was tapped to assist with the hepatocyte lab design and set up for the new Lonza facility in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park.

As director of operations, I served as head of human and animal hepatocyte production, both fresh and cryopreserved. My role encompassed client relations and trouble-shooting challenges regarding primary hepatocyte products, as well as the initiation, development and management of OPO relationships to secure sourcing of human liver tissue.

As head of the hepatocyte isolation and cryopreservation program, I led production and quality control of cryopreserved and fresh hepatocytes. Responsibilities spanned the development of all protocols and SOPs for the program, such as isolation, QC, cryopreservation, thawing and plating, and hepatocyte culture.I provided sales and promotion support, overseeing website and literature design that included an interactive online inventory, online protocols for product use and conference materials. I also worked directly with clients on product creation, sales, packaging, shipping and the troubleshooting of any challenges associated with hepatocyte handling and culture issues.

As an isolations supervisor, I led a seven-member team, overseeing daily operations, assigning duties and ensuring comprehensive training to maintain top-tier performance. I managed all aspects of product generation and quality, including SOP development, personnel oversight, QC tracking and hands-on production. My expertise included performing in-situ liver flush and tissue collection across multiple species, as well as traveling to labs for on-site surgeries and tissue transport. Additionally, I coordinated tissue sourcing by establishing strong relationships with labs to secure high-quality liver samples for processing.
