I am an active member of the Brain Injury Survivor's Group at Disability Network of Southwest Michigan. We meet every Thursday afternoon. I volunteer my time maintaining the grounds there.

I attend the monthly meetings and stay actively involved in the safety of the community.

Mail Processing Clerk: Processing of U.S. Mail

Daily maintenance of the pinsetters, lanes, and approaches for a 48-lane bowling center. Learned to work with hand tools, adjusting and replacing moving parts, preventive maintenance using lubricants and solvents, making adjustments and troubleshooting.

Responsible for all proofreading, including page setup, proper use of color, inspecting graphics and color separations, integrity of the type and page makeup, and signing off on all matchprints. Nothing went to press without my signature.

Data entry clerk for domestic and Canadian shipments. Customer service clerk for the walk-in counter. Sometimes customer service operator for scheduling pickups. Well-paying part-time job in addition to my graphic arts work.

Assembled a custom typesetting system that was designed specifically for our main customer, The Daily Reporter, a daily Monday-Friday legal newspaper. The hardware was Leading Edge Model D computers (IBM compatible), five of them. The sofware was Hampstead PCTS (a Compugraphic MCS clone, made to run on a PC). The output devices were Compugraphic Unisetters (3). I maintained all of the equipment, supplies, and was a working supervisor. I determined who did what. I supervised up to six employees.

It was a small company. I did the majority of the typesetting. I had a part time person that would work nights. I would explain the night's work when he would come in.
