Coastal Zone Management Pty Ltd (CZM) provided technical expertise and management consultancy for effective climate change adaptation.The firm helped clients sustainably manage change of global coastlines and inland areas.CZM provided a team of highly experienced professionals who specialised in: * climate change and sea level rise vulnerability and adaptation assessment * climate change capacity building * institutional analysis, policy and planning.Projects range from local-scale projects such as adaptation planning for Local Governments to providing global analysis for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Based in Perth Western Australia, we worked with clients nationally, in the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe to provide an outstanding level of service to our clients and the community. A flagship initiative from 2007-2009 was support of the Kiribati Adaptation Project (KAP Phase II) that built capacity through a co-developed climate change risk assessment process. My role culminated in presentation to the UNFCCC CoP 15 in Copenhagen.

As a Freelance Sole Trader, I provided project and program management services to a range of government and private clients. Projects included IT program management roles and environmental consulting.

As Branch Manager in the Maritime Division I lead a team of 30+ staff to providing technical and managerial advice on oceanographic information management, maritime transport, port planning, small boating facilities and coastal engineering works. The role included key leadership positions:▪ Key Member of the Transformations Strategic Information Management Team▪ Concept creator and project manager of the first integrated Western Australian Government website – the Coastal Data Centre.▪ Chair, Western Australian Land Information System (WALIS) Marine Data Committee.▪ Project Coordinator, Western Australian Coastal Atlas.

I coordinated the State's coastal zone management programme, including preparation of coastal planning and management policies, guidelines and manuals. This included managing a small team responsible for the provision of expert advice on coastal residential, tourist, canal estate, marina and industrial developments and preparing coastal management plans (various scales). For my sins, i was also responsible for coordinating liaison between the State and Commonwealth (national) and local governments on coastal zone management issues

The theory and practice of the nexus between integrated coastal zone management and sea-level rise adaptation planning were studied in universities and government departments in Australian and New Zealand including: University of Western Australia, Government of South Australia, James Cook University, New Zealand Government (Wellington), University of Waikato.

I coordinated a sea-level rise assessment of the UK coastline . The project produced the first comprehensive view of coastal flood and erosion risk. The project provided the impetus for early policy reform to enact management controls on eroding coastlines.

Project coordinator and sub-team leader of one of the first projects to asses the possible future impacts of the climate change and sea-level rise on the UK coast. The project included field-based assessment, desktop analysis and extensive consultation. A key outcome of the project was the first nation-wide coastal flood and erosion risk maps and subsequent policy reform of management controls on eroding coastlines.
