Engineer and entrepreneur turned philanthropist with over 20 years experience helping the poor in developing countries in Asia. Founded Operation Hope Foundation as a non-profit in 2001 with the vision to 'Make hope real for people trapped in poverty.' Operation Hope (OHF) operates in Cambodia and Nepal and is registered in Singapore as a charity.In Cambodia, OHF runs a childrens home, a non residential child sponsorship to keep children in school and a training programme to help young adults to obtain the skills necessary to get a white collar job. In addition, OHF runs and operates a home building programme as well as the installation of toilets and water wells/UV systems. In Nepal, Operation Hope also runs a childrens home with over 40 children as well as a unique home building programme - teaching and helping villagers in building rice bag houses. Following the earthquake four years ago, there are still thousands without safe housing and the rice bag program helps to provide inexpensive, efficient and fit for purpose housing. A livelihood programme has also recently been implemented to help rural villagers learn the trades and skills to support themselves - animal husbandry, tailoring and soap making among them. All of this work is underpinned by the belief and core value to ensure donations are properly used. This requires street smart audits and accounting combined with hands-on approach to execution of projects.
