I provide anti-corruption consulting services to companies.

I assist companies and individuals with white collar investigations and prosecutions, and provide compliance advice.

I led internal investigations for numerous Fortune 500 companies, and successfully represented those clients before the authorities. I have substantial experience investigating all types of corruption and fraud, and many of my investigations involved multiple jurisdictions and leading large teams. As an example, I led an internal investigation in China for a global company that discovered significant corruption-related misconduct. The company voluntarily disclosed, fully cooperated and remediated, and ultimately obtained a complete declination from all authorities. Instead of prosecuting the company, the authorities prosecuted the lead culpable former employee. This was one of only two Foreign Corrupt Practices Act cases in which the authorities gave a public company a complete declination and instead prosecuted a former company employee on corruption charges. I used my expertise in anti-corruption matters to counsel companies on their compliance programs, and to conduct anti-corruption due diligence in connection with transactions. I represented individuals caught up in corruption and fraud investigations, and use my experience in investigating and resolving misconduct allegations to represent clients in complex civil litigation.In addition to my work for paying clients, I was active in pro bono matters, especially in the areas of immigration and criminal justice. I held various management roles at the firm, including chair of the firm's North American Aerospace & Defense Industry Group. Based on client reviews, I was Chambers-ranked in Illinois white collar litigation starting in 2012, and I was named as an Acritas Star and selected for inclusion in Global Investigation Review's Who's Who Legal: Investigations.

I focused on prosecuting public corruption and white collar fraud. Significant cases on which I was lead prosecutor included the public corruption prosecution of Cook County Treasurer Edward Rosewell, and the fraud prosecutions of Chicago Housing Authority chairman Vincent Lane and newspaper publisher Conrad Black. I also was chief of the Complex Fraud Section from 2001 to 2006. In this position, I headed up the office's efforts to prosecute securities fraud, commodities fraud, healthcare fraud, defense contractor fraud and financial institution fraud. I was the lead prosecutor in numerous trials, all of which resulted in guilty verdicts, and successfully argued in excess of fifteen appeals before the United States Court of Appeal for the Seventh Circuit.

I participated on teams representing clients in both civil and criminal litigation matters, and was active in the firm's pro bono practice.

I did legal research and prepared draft opinions.
