I set up and operate a Okuma Mac Turn 350, a 11 axis lathe and mill work center, with materials like 316, 304, carpenter 20 stainless, monel, and titanium. I've been on second shift since I started. The programs are done in the programing department, but some editing is necessary to adjust to the mac turns requirements. All the tooling is preset to minimize set up time, but with this machine, it makes glands that sometimes requires specialized tooling.

Took care of shipping, incoming and outgoing materials, inspection, first piece, and daily, CNC setup and programing, secondary setup, and maintenance.

This was our family business, a job shop with single spindle screw machines, making parts for a wide variety of businesses. I started as a operator, learning the machining trade thru trade school at night, from lathe operating, tool grinding, and CNC programing. After father passed away, I moved into the office, talking to customers, quoting, book keeping, whatever it took to make money.
