I am a theoretical plasma physicist working for over 20 years on Laser-Plasma Interaction (LPI), Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF), High Energy Density Physics (HEDP). I have expertise in development of multi-dimensional kinetic and fluid simulation codes and using them – together with theoretical analysis – to gain new understanding of fundamental phenomena underpinning the interaction of high-power (1e12 – 1e15 W), short duration (1 ps – 10 ns) laser beams with matter. I also work in Magnetic Confinement Fusion (MCF), principally in the area of plasma exhaust and Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) physics.I manage a small research team of 3–4 PhD students and a postdoctoral researcher.I have Visiting Academic positions at the STFC Central Laser Facility and the UKAEA Culham Centre for Fusion Energy.Teaching wise, I have lectured 4 different lecture courses to Physics (and also Chemistry) UG in class sizes ranging from 40 to 250. These courses include; Basic Mechanics Vibrations & Waves, Plasma Physics, Computational Physics and Differential Equations. I run a UG coding module that teaches OOP in Python (and formerly in C++).
