OverviewProvide Construction leadership team members management, guidance and direction required to ensure construction activities are executed to meet the goals and objectives of the nation’s premier Scientific Laboratory. I am tasked with ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of work for multiple projects. I assign and direct Manager, Superintendent and Supervisor level employees to projects consistent with their individual qualifications and to enhance growth opportunities and develop skills. Day-to-day responsibilities  For self-perform and subcontracted work I am the single point of contact to lead all construction efforts.  Coordinate resources such as engineering, procurement and start-up to provide necessary support for successful project execution in compliance with policies and codes. Focus on Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost. Support the development of project construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and costs for acceptability and review specifications and drawings for constructability. Coordinate and resolve any issues involving staffing, material delivery, and contract/subcontract administration. Coordinates with Project Management, Design Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls and other functional departments and personnel in establishing and maintaining priorities to ensure the success of the project.  Coordinate and resolve any project issues. Evaluates issues as necessary for the Area Project Manager and Manager of Construction to ensure the success of projects. Monitor, adjust and improve construction personnel performance, quality, technical adequacy and staffing levels. Ensure that the appropriate field procedures are in place and being adhered to. Provide periodic reports regarding construction operations to the Manager of Construction.

I am responsible for multiple construction projects at the Nation’s premier scientific laboratory. Projects include all craft disciplines. Day-to-day activities include pre-job briefings and monitoring work execution. Other responsibilities include day-to-day planning, 1 week and 2/3 week look-ahead planning, coordination with programmatic/operations groups, daily briefings of senior leadership and assuring that all work is performed in accordance with LANL policies and procedures, national codes and industry best practices. Our work is focused on maintaining Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost. I also review proposed work packages to assure that they are realistic and achievable, and work packages being executed to assure that they meet schedule and cost expectations. Our projects are mainly focused on upgrades and renovations and I participate in constructability reviews during the project design process. I actively manage a unionized work-force in the day-to-day execution of construction activities and have a strong understanding of working with collective bargaining agreements.

I was directly responsible for all field Electrical construction operations in the ECU. This included High Voltage substations and switch yards. I schedule the work to be performed and review work accomplished. I determine workforce requirements and ensure that the most current design documents are used. I am charged with developing reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress. I monitor and coordinate the activities of a team of 4 Engineers, 2 planners/schedulers, multiple subcontractors and over 150 direct hire craft employees. I coordinate Electrical activities with other disciplines and areas. I perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities. I ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with and lead scheduled safety meetings

I was directly responsible for all aspects of Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance for the OxyChem Ingleside VCM plant. This responsibility includes leading a team of Electricians and Instrumentation Technicians in the day-to-day maintenance activities as well as planning for future maintenance activities. Planning includes both maintenance and capital (turn-around) planning. I am responsible for interacting with and briefing executive management on a daily basis.

I was the coordinator for Electricians and Instrumentation Maintenance at Sherwin Alumina. I lead a team of 32 skilled tradesmen who support a 24/7/365 Alumina refinery. Our plant takes in raw bauxite by the shipload and distributes Alumina powder in various grades by rail car, barge and ship. My primary role is to coordinate all Electrical, Instrumentation and Building/Infrastructure Maintenance and repairs for the refinery. We take 30-40 Megawatts from the grid and Co-Generate 24 Megawatts in our own Powerhouse. I have a great team who does great things.
