My responsibilities partially carried off of my last employment at CSX, in obeying considerable government and corporate rules to transport hazardous goods safely and efficiently, and doing so at any given hour of the day in some cases.As an associate, it was my job to keep the operations following a Pharmacist/Technician's creation of a nuclear medicine dose going smoothly. Packing and dispatching such doses requires numerous verifications, by metering and wiping methods, to ensure a safe delivery process, while at the same time balancing with a tight schedule of timed dosages for meeting customer expectations. Likewise, the pharmacy depended on Associates like myself to properly breakdown customer returns, and keep the restricted area clean, well stocked, and at the ready for any order demands to be met quickly.I expanded my roles in the pharmacy to include Quality Control tech work (verification that any doses made meet corporate and/or industry standards) this past April ('15), and maintained an inquisitive mindset to learn as much about the industry as possible. In addition, owing to my continued interest in seeing the "business side of things", I completed Lean Six Sigma training for White and Yellow Belt certifications.

Being on-call at all times, my tasks began with reading and verifying train shipment documents at the terminal, examining standard mechanical features and consist build (look over the first several or so cars on the train) before departure, and communicate with multiple authorities via radio for instructions to depart. While traveling on the Line-of-Road, I was charged with keeping clerical records of speed, signal and time junctions, verbally verifying jointly with engineer any task alterations or restrictions approaching, and continued to maintain radio contact with rail authorities as required. In emergency situations, I was charged with troubleshooting mechanical faults in the train consist, and this included making minor repairs as needed, or immediately contacting dispatchers in the event of any dangerous situations (such as hazardous material spills).Tasks in yard duties included maintaining verbal or visual contact with engineer while moving on foot, off the locomotive consist, to safe movements and couplings, while also keeping to yard communication protocols and building train consists as marked in documentation.In summary, this job involved considerable clerical skills, strong communication abilities, some mechanical know-how, and above all, a strong tolerance and respect for the unexpected every time you get called out for a train.

Numerous types of reports and "circulars" were to be sorted and mailed according to customer's needs. Above all, an employee in the Fulfillment Center worked to assist their colleagues in meeting the time goals set daily as a team - specific tasking for customers by region would be divided accordingly near day's end to utilize all available employees in meeting shipment deadlines.In summary, a fast paced environment where a keen eye, fast word processing, strong writing capabilities and a "go-team attitude" go a long way in success.
