Robert Lang is Founder and President of Kensington Communications. Recently, he was Producer/Exec Producer of three one hour docs for CBC The Nature of Things, Fluid: Life Beyond the Binary, Why We Dance and Nature's Cleanup Crew. He was co-director and producer of The Shadow of Gold, two one-hours for TVO and Arte France along with a theatrical feature version, and The Equalizer/Champions vs Legends two one-hours for CBC,ZDF,ARD,Arte,ORF. In 2017, he was Producer/Director/Writer of Risk Factor (TVO, Knowledge,Canal D) and producer of its innovative mobile app, Risk Navigator. Between 2010-2013, he was Exec Producer/Co-creator of 3 seasons of Canadian Screen Award-winning hit series, Museum Secrets. Filmed at the world's great museums w/an interactive website (MuseumSecrets.tv),it inspired Kensington's inventive mobile app, Scopify, for the ROM. In 2013, he was Exec Producer/Writer/Director of the 5 part series Shameless Idealists (CTV). He was Producer/Co-writer of the feature doc Raw Opium (TVO,ZDF/Arte,Canal D), selected for The Economist Film Project and featured on PBS NewsHour in 2011. Series work includes: Exec Producer, Producer and one of the Directors of the City Sonic multiplatform music project (citysonic.tv), which premiered at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival; Producer of Gemini Award-winning series Diamond Road for TVO, Discovery, ZDF/ARTE, with its innovative interactive documentary website. He was Co-creator, Exec Producer of 3 seasons of 72 Hours: True Crime, a documentary drama series for CBC, TLC and Canal D, his second foray into the crime genre after 5 seasons as Co-Producer, Co-Creator and a Director of the groundbreaking, Gemini-winning series, Exhibit A: Secrets of Forensic Science (Discovery/TLC). He was exec producer and one of the directors of acclaimed 4-part series, The Sacred Balance with David Suzuki (CBC/PBS),and producer/director of over 25 one-off documentaries that won many awards worldwide, incl. Fragile Harvest, Almost Home: a Sayisi Dene Journey and, with long-time collaborator Bruce Cockburn, River of Sand and Return to Nepal. A founding member of the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC), Robert was recipient of MIPDOC’s 2009 North American Trailblazer Award, 2002 Queen's Gold Jubilee Medal and HotDocs Humanitarian Award. He currently co-chairs popular online news and current affairs channel, The Real News.
