Robert Lantz serves on the Board of ALIGHT and is the Treasurer. ALIGHT is a Guidestar/Candid-accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit that connects children, women and men who have suffered human trafficking to free legal help at a critical point in their recovery. To help survivors finally escape the exploitation cycle, ALIGHT matches them to the right attorney at the right time enabling them to overcome legal problems that are insurmountable alone.

Robert serves as President of the Denver Council on Foreign Relations. The organization is committed to heightening public awareness and building understanding of contemporary and emerging international issues. In doing so, DCFR seeks a better-informed Colorado regarding the global issues that impact us all.

At Coan, Payton & Payne, LLC, Robert's practice includes commercial litigation and transactional work. Robert also represents creditors in insolvency, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters. Robert is an experienced litigator, having argued cases before the North Dakota Supreme Court, Missouri, Colorado, and Kansas state courts, the Colorado Court of Appeals, several bankruptcy courts throughout the United States, United States District Courts, and the Eighth and Tenth Circuits of the United States. Additionally, Robert assists clients in mediation, commercial transactions, and real estate transactions.Mr. Lantz has been a licensed lawyer in the state of Colorado since 1999 and for the US District Court for the District of Colorado since 2013. He holds active licenses for the states of Missouri and Kansas as well as the United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit. Mr. Lantz also has a robust international practice representing foreign corporations in commercial litigation and bankruptcy. His articles on international insolvency have been shared and published internationally.

Robert provided his clients with legal services in the areas of business consultation, bankruptcy, corporate restructuring and reorganization, real estate, commercial litigation, and commercial real estate lease negotiation and contract drafting. Robert's bankruptcy practice included Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 debtor representation, creditor representation, and trustee representation. His real estate practice included foreclosure, distressed property reorganization, and commercial leases.

Robert served the Court by assisting the Honorable Sidney B. Brooks, Bankruptcy Judge, in researching and crafting orders, opinions, and judgments. In his capacity as Law Clerk, Robert prepared written materials for law reviews, seminars, and journals. A highly valued accomplishment during his time at the Bankruptcy Court was his work with international organizations and courts. On more than one occasion, Robert was a speaker on the topic of the United States legal system to representatives of the Supreme Court of Arbitration of the Russian Federation. Robert has also co-authored one of the seminal articles on Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code during his tenure with the Court.Robert was a speaker to the Association of Bankruptcy Judicial Assistants during their 2011 and 2012 conferences. Robert has also spoken to the Sheriffs of the State of Colorado on the subject of foreclosure, repossession, and bankruptcy.

Areas of Practice: Bankruptcy (both debtor and creditor representation), foreclosure, commercial litigation, real estate, corporate law, family law, and general civil practice.Description: Robert helped manage the firm's bankruptcy department. The firm successfully processed hundreds of bankruptcies and foreclosures each year during Robert's tenure with the firm. Robert also acted as lead counsel on many civil matters litigated before numerous courts throughout the country. Accomplishments: Robert represented a large creditor in the Chapter 11 cases of Economy Lodging Systems Inc., and ELS Lodging, Inc., f.k.a. Knights Lodging, Inc. (United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division), the owners/franchisors of the Knights Inns motel chain. These jointly administered cases were the most significant Chapter 11 cases in Cleveland, Ohio during the second half of the 1990s. Additionally, Robert represented one of the key creditors in the Payless Cashways, Inc., Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in Kansas City, Missouri.

Description: Robert prosecuted matters for bankruptcy abuse and oversaw the administration of several corporate Chapter 11 bankruptcies.Accomplishments: Robert was the staff attorney for the Office of the United States Trustee in the Creative Restaurant Management, Inc. bankruptcy case, which was one of the largest hospitality cases filed in Missouri during the 1990s. Robert also was one of the staff attorneys who represented the Office of the United States Trustee in its supervision of the First Humanics, Corp. bankruptcy, which was one of the largest nursing home bankruptcy cases in the United States in the early 1990s.
