Supported departmental research in ophthalmology, hematopoietic stem cell biology, and oncology. Functioned as electronic lab notebook champion for department and ergonomic representative.Created SOP for CFU-GM assay utilized to screen numerous oncology lead compounds effects on hematopoietic stem cells and to determine if compounds should progress forward in development. Demonstrated the differential effects of GSK multi-kinase inhibitory compounds relative to other commercially available inhibitors on various human hematopoietic stem cell populations.Performed tumor xenograft models in mice and examined protein phosphorylation of kinases by ELISA of tumor tissue in compound treated animals demonstrating compounds effects on kinase phosphorylation state.Participated in rodent and rabbit models of choroidal neovascularization, trained personnel in animal handling, anesthesia administration and developed a modification for existing fluorescent angiography equipment enabling non-surgical personnel to evaluate the effects of test compounds in research animals.Implemented new extraction techniques to analyze compound levels in milligram quantities of ophthalmic tissue which previously had been unattainable and transferred the technology to other departments within GSK.Developed combination rodent chemotherapy model for the analysis of test compound effect on cytopenia and demonstrated that observed in vitro effects did not translate to in vivo effects.
