Robert has more than 20 years of experience as a solicitor with expertise in dispute resolution relating to insurance, construction, professional negligence, professional conduct, statutory liabilities, re-insurance, shipping and legal costs. He has handled many cases concerning architects', engineers' and contractors' professional and contractual liabilities, often with significant technical dimensions, in a variety of industries including energy and transport. He also has extensive experience in relation to liabilities of financial advisers and actuaries. He has undertaken claims handling on behalf of underwriters, including for a leading architects' scheme, within specified authorities.Robert has conducted cases of all sizes in the County and High Courts, especially in the Technology and Construction Court, the Court of Appeal, professional disciplinary panels, and the Costs Court. In addition, has advised in many cases privately arbitrated and adjudicated, including under the statutory scheme for construction disputes. He has experience of foreign litigation and international arbitration notably in France, The Netherlands and Norway.Robert has undertaken advocacy in final hearings in the County Court, private arbitrations and adjudications, and before disciplinary panels.Robert has recently taken an academic course in International Law. His wider interests include military history and climate change. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
