Offshore pipe coating technician working on the Semac 1 semi submersible pipelay vessel, I was part of a small specialized team from Bredero Shaw FJCCS contracted to Saipem to carry out the Field Joint Coating of a 20km pipeline being laid in the South China Sea between two offshore platforms as part of the Bien Dong project

During my time working as a Technical Operator for Bredero Shaw, I was learning the coating processes, operations and maintenance of all associated plant equipment. This involved blast surface preparation and various different types of anti-corrosion protection such as Fusion Bonded Epoxy (fbe), Polypropylene (pp), Polyethylene (pe), I was the main.

I joined the Army in 2002. I started out as a Private within a section on duty in the barracks. I was posted to Bosnia 2002/2003 and then Iraq in 2003/2004. On return from Iraq, I successfully completed a Junior NCO Course and promoted to the rank of Corporal. I was then in charge of a four man team where I was responsible for their administration.
