The CREW Land & Water Trust is a private, non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the water resources and natural communities in and around the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW), the largest intact watershed system in Southwest Florida, spanning 60,000 acres in southern Lee and northern Collier Counties.

I currently teach FGCU’s course "A Sustainable Future: University Colloquium"- a seminar based undergraduate course identifying sustainable solutions for future development. This course introduces students to the complexities of sustainable societal patterns and the challenges around sustainable development each will face as they launch their careers upon graduation. Colloquium explores a broad and diverse range of topics, including climate change, ecosystem and habitat resilience, food and water security, waste management, sustainable energy, green product design, livable cities, environmental justice, and advocacy.

• Develop coalitions among domestic and international educational, environmental and animal protection organizations to advance humane advocacy capacity in developing countries, principally through the delivery of micro-grants and mentorship in support of experiential learning opportunities for youth activists. 
• Provided in excess of $100k to support vegan outreach and animal welfare advocacy programs in Vietnam. • Partnered with a Vietnamese NGOs to develop and deliver humane education programs that marry participatory theory techniques with traditional Vietnamese pedagogical techniques. • Coordinated a multi-year Go Veg campaign with a domestic animal protection NGO. This campaign produced the first-ever publication (and subsequent editions) of a Vietnamese language plant-based eating transition guide, and included social media outreach, monthly veg-friendly film screenings and speakers, and vegan food tasting and culinary skills training events.• Provided micro-grants for voucher-based spay/neuter campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City, a national animal welfare “propaganda poster” contest that leveraged traditional Vietnamese art forms, and humane educations programs in Hanoi and Da Nang.• Co-organized and co-hosted the first national Animal Protection conferences in Vietnam in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and funded attendance by Vietnamese activists at animal welfare conferences in Asia and the United States.• Established and delivered the “Planting Seeds of Compassion” scholarship program, providing annual school grants since 2012 to 74 primary, secondary, and university students from low-income families in Thái Bình province, Vietnam. • Raised $30K for quality of life infrastructure improvements at leprosy hospitals and adjacent residential communities throughout northern Vietnam.

The President's Advisory Council on Sustainability is tasked with advising the university president on sustainability initiatives to be embedded in Fielding’s next strategic plan, 2020-2023 and to make recommendations to improve sustainability in the operations and the conduct of in-person Fielding events. Activities also include communication of Fielding’s commitment to sustainability and social justice to external communities.

Launch Learning Systems provides residential and online training workshops to professionals in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Focus areas include leadership development, strategic planning, red-team operations, organizational change, generational diversity and cross-cultural harmonization.

Managed farm animal welfare programs in East Asia and Southeast Asia. My portfolio included efforts to develop the advocacy capacity of domestic partner organizations, and collaboration with government, non-government, and private sector entities to advance animal protection initiatives. This work includes particular emphasis on engagement with multinational and regional corporations and financial institutions to address public and investor concerns for the welfare of animals, and to mitigate the environmental and public health risks associated with specific technologies and methods associated with industrial animal agriculture. Specific accomplishments included:• Engaged with more than sixty multinational corporations and international financial institutions to promote policies to mitigate negative environmental, food safety and public health externalities associated with industrial food production and increasing global and regional consumption of animal-based foods. • Partnered with local organizations to launch plant-based eating campaigns in Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia, and enhance similar initiatives throughout the region. • Developed and coordinated research and educational initiatives with universities and professional veterinary associations to promote farm animal welfare in Asia.• Partnered with religious leaders in Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan to promote animal welfare and mindful eating. These efforts included the conduct of a Mindful Eating symposium at Hanoi Buddhist University attended by more than 600 practitioners from several Asian nations. • Worked with domestic NGOs across the region to enhance volunteer and staff advocacy and activism skills and to build linkages at the national and regional level to gain efficiencies and enhance effectiveness.

• Planned and conducted graduate-level, regional affairs seminars for 350 + senior U.S. government foreign language and culture specialists. Responsibilities included logistical and administrative coordination, participant recruitment, synchronizing academic content, conduct of post-seminar evaluations, and execution of annual budget in excess of $500K.• Coordinated recruitment of subject matter expertise (SME) from the Defense Intelligence Agency, Defense Security Cooperation Agency, U.S. regional centers for security studies, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State, the National Security Council Staff, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, U.S. Embassy and congressional staffs, private-sector and non-profit entities, and other U.S. DoD and civilian academic institutions. • Provided project management expertise to Naval Postgraduate School faculty and staff, evaluated lessons learned/best practices, and formulated evaluation/assessment protocols to achieve process efficiencies.• Coordinated foreign language diagnostic assessment and maintenance training for course participants.• Editor, Joint FAO Proceedings magazine.

Provided residential and online instruction for the USMC College of Distance Education and Training, including all seven courses comprising the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP).

Led the day-to-day management of 400+ faculty and staff for 51 foreign language education programs executed at 26 global locations and supported by an annual budget of 50+ million USD.• As the Dean of Educational Support Services, supervised ten-member Academic Support Center, providing faculty professionalization programs and student academic counseling, and eleven-member Diagnostic Assessment Center, providing foreign language formative and summative assessments for students and foreign language diagnostic assessment certification training for faculty.• Supervised ten-employee training team that supported organizational foreign language program managers worldwide, including hosting an annual conference for 250+ attendees from across U.S. Department of Defense foreign language community.• As Dean of Students for Continuing Education programs, supervised the Chief Military Language Instructor, and ensured that students participating in advanced language programs were enrolled and managed in accordance with applicable U.S. Army, TRADOC and institutional policies.• Oversaw curriculum development for AF/PAK Phase II language and culture training (Dari, Pashto, & Urdu) delivered via synchronous/asynchronous modalities.• Led the curriculum development team for the Joint FAO Program Skills Sustainment intermediate and advanced online foreign language learning modules in twelve languages for 26 specialized topics, including humanitarian assistance, disaster response, search & rescue, medical support, human trafficking, and pandemic response.• Led strategic planning and risk mitigation efforts for the directorate’s reorganization and mission realignment in support of Virtual DLI initiatives, which included the establishment of a School of Distance Learning.• Participated as core member of DLIFLC’s accreditation self-study team in preparation for the institute’s 2012 re-accreditation.

Responsible to the U.S. Chief of Mission, U.S. Consul General and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for monitoring and reporting on defense issues related to People’s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) modernization, capabilities and employment.• Responsible to the U.S. Pacific Commander, U.S. Chief of Naval Operations, and Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps for shaping U.S.-Vietnam bi-lateral naval relationship to promote U.S. national security interests and priorities.• Managed execution of 3 million USD annual U.S. State Department Humanitarian Demining Program in Vietnam.• Coordinated multiple U.S. Navy ship visits to Vietnam and negotiated the opening of ports that had not welcomed U.S. Navy vessels for more than thirty years (Hai Phong and Nha Trang).• Coordinated U.S. government humanitarian assistance programs with Vietnam’s Ministry of Health and provincial authorities, resulting in the construction of six schools, five medical clinics, the donation in excess of $1 million in medical surplus, and the conduct of two unprecedented sea-based humanitarian medical and dental assistance missions to Da Nang and Nha Trang that provided care to more than 20K Vietnamese citizens.• Negotiated with Vietnam’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to broaden maritime search and rescue cooperation and expand ocean floor digital mapping to facilitate recovery of missing personnel.• Coordinated research and other educational activities involving visiting delegations and scholars from U.S. professional military education institutions.• Supported public diplomacy through guest lectures on U.S. politics and foreign policy at Hanoi University of Foreign Studies and the National University of Vietnam.

As a political-military advisor assigned to the Defense Attaché Office in Jakarta, Indonesia, conducted field research and preparation of reports, research briefs, and presentations on emerging political, economic, military, cultural, and demographic trends for eleven Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific nations.

Supervised software research, development, testing, configuration management and lifecycle maintenance for multiple aviation command and control systems, including the AN/MSQ-124 Air Defense Communications Platform (ADCP), Light Armored Vehicle-Air Defense variant (LAV-AD), the Light Armored Vehicle-105mm variant (LAV-105) and anti-tactical ballistic missile upgrades (Block 5/6) to the HAWK air defense missile system.
