My role as a Lieutenant and Acting Captain for Long Beach Township Beach Patrol is to help oversee roughly two miles of beach with about 200,000 people as part of one of the largest beach patrols in the United States. I manage and oversee 30+ individuals, ranging from ages 16 to 25, making sure they are up to national standards. I am also responsible for educating the public, performing open water rescues, and providing emergency medical care. I have been recognized on multiple occasions by the town for my lifesaving and communications skills. I am also an American Red Cross CPR & Emergency Medical Response Instructor.
I was in charge of a datacenter at Marist College that is used by the Center for Enterprise Computing. I work with the hardware and software aspects of the datacenter, such as Power servers, x86 servers (Linux and Windows), networking (fiber and ethernet) and firewalls, ESXi and vSphere, Syslogs, IBM QRadar & IBM Watson. I have worked with IBM storage servers and data storage design along with SANs. I researched IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and the BMCA reliability. My research was published in IEEE TIM in May 2019I installed and updated 50% of the datacenter's infrastructure allowing for more versatility when choosing equipment to use to perform research on. This included extensive cable management on highly available systems that could not have any downtime. I also deployed a DCIM system (coming from an excel document), hardware monitoring system to view server performance and failures, and SAN storage clusters, all for long term use by future personnel.I presented my research on Precision Time Protocol at the Enterprise Computing Conference in May of 2018, and was published by the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement in May of 2019.
