Robert focuses his practice on litigating complex intellectual property disputes. With more than 25 years of experience, Robert has effectively handled the full range of dispute resolution, from direct negotiations to mediations and arbitrations to bench and jury trials, and matters at the appellate level. He has litigated numerous cases in state and federal courts around the country and has worked in nearly every major business center in the U.S., including 28 states and the District of Columbia, in the course of taking depositions, arguing motions, obtaining temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions, trying cases and arguing appeals. Robert's extensive knowledge, background and expertise allows him to provide clients the thorough and timely tactical advice needed to successfully resolve complex disputes.Robert's practice covers a wide range of IP-related matters including patent infringement, validity trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, such as inter partes review proceedings, covered business method review proceedings and post grant review proceedings, trade secrets, trademark infringement, unfair competition, and antitrust cases. In addition to winning jury verdicts for plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes patent litigation, he has won summary judgment in a large number of complex patent cases where the plaintiff demanded tens and hundreds of millions of dollars. Robert has substantial experience at the appellate level as he has successfully briefed and argued many cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.Robert's lawsuits have concerned electronic circuits and electrical controls, computer systems and software, telephone systems, voting equipment, organic and inorganic chemistry, semiconductors, life sciences reagents and processes, medical and dental products, power and utilities, financial services, and manufactured and industrial products.
