As a project designer I am applying structural engineering practices and software to bring design concepts to life. Using project management skills and my knowledge on materials I work to create economically viable options for creative projects that are safe and long lasting.

- obtain clients who need projects completed, such as sheds, farming structures, and garden beds that can serve the clients needs- produce an estimated project cost and a detailed schedule for completion, (i.e I estimated a 20’ x 8’ work shed to cost $1,000 to be built in three weeks with wood framing, an asphalt shingle roof, and concrete pier foundation; using reclaimed and discounted materials to lower the building cost, creating an innovative design to make the structure aesthetically pleasing, and creating space to fully meet the clients needs)- use my skills and developed experience of basic building knowledge and operation of tools to construct projects including materials such as metal, wood, earth/adobe, concrete, and fabric to create stable structures

During my time at GeoTek I obtained valuable knowledge and practices pertaining to geotechnical engineering that will serve to add to the diversity of my engineering career. I devoted time to working with clients and professionals to manage projects, meet deadlines, and satisfy engineering requirements. I practiced engineering concepts such as the use of soil bearing capacity, slope stability, drilled shaft soils strength, embedded anchors, geo textile soil fortification, dewatering techniques, and grouting techniques. I was exposed to the diverse conditions of soil affecting structures which includes hydro collapsible soil, expansive soils, soluble soils, soils with high sodium sulfate, soils with high chlorides, and oversized materials. I was also exposed to the affects these soil conditions have on a structure such as heaving, settlement, differential settlement, steel reinforcement attacks, concrete attacks, surcharge, stability, and various types of soil failure. I assembled professional reports that covered various sections of local and international code to confidently portray standards of practice for geotechnical engineering. I worked on projects as small as residential casitas to and as large as multi family structures or commercial buildings. I became familiar with procedures of assessing problems, performing tests, and applying laboratory results to provide professional recommendations to solve the problems. These tests included direct shear, consolidation, density, swell, borings, sieve analysis, moisture content, R-value, shear wave, resistivity and manometer. I used references standard to the practice of engineering to determine necessary values for factors of safety, skin friction, bearing pressure and lateral and passive earth pressure for use in professional recommendations.

- resuming where absent Clark County School District teachers are in their curriculum to ensure students are maintaining progress towards understanding of course materials, this includes following instructive reports on subject materials and creating reports based on academic progress- guide a classroom of 15-30 students from a variety of grade levels, ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school, towards maintaining a focused and productive learning experience which includes activities such as reading, demonstrations, lecturing, and discipline- creatively teach from a list of instructions left for me by the full time teacher on a variety of topics such as English, Music, Mathematics, Art and Science

- perform methods of reviewing and creating land surveying drawings for students including stationing, curvature, position, profiles and landmarks to be of use as a professional land surveyor and a civil engineer - train students how to properly use measuring equipment including steel tape, theodolite (sight level), philadelphia rods, Trimble Total Station, GNSS systems and other devices as a means to measure vertical distances, horizontal distances, vertical angles, horizontal angles, elevation, and grade- instruct and mentor groups of 12-20 students towards achieving valuable progress from their education in civil engineering and a clear understanding of the materials covered in their courses

-Network with organizations such as non-profits, commercial businesses, and churches for participation in various events.-Marketing design and distribution coordinating.-Outreach at schools and public events to inform potential participants on Nevada Desert Experience events-Logistics for events involving meal planning, transportation, workshop materials, event handouts, restroom facilities-Scheduling and planning, and for events including performances, workshops, guest speakers, and hosting-Leading people throughout scheduled event and activity providing necessary support for events lasting 1 to 7 days-Public speaking at events and communication of organizations mission, goals, and steps to achieve goals.-Host events including a float in the Annual Martin Luther King Parade, screenings documentaries, and a one week Sacred Peace Walk, an educational art and music festival called Justice For our Desert.

-Manager duties at multiple retail locations including inventory supply, sales updates, daily cash flow, and employee affairs.-Opening and closing procedures to secure jobsite and prepare for a successful workday.-Maintain a clean to establish a reputable business establishment-Service for clients including billing discrepancy, service failure, technical hardware failure, and merchandise information.
