Robert McBriar represents numerous public and private clients in a variety of legal areas including Insurance Defense, Government Law, Property Taxation and Land Use. Mr. McBriar assists in handling all aspects of litigation from initial case evaluation and strategy through trial. He is experienced in defending public entities and officials in litigation involving professional liability and property/casualty coverage. He regularly counsels public entities regarding legislation, regulation and general administration. In addition, he assists with legal issues involving public contracts, elections, OPMA, OPRA, land use, eminent domain and redevelopment.Mr. McBriar frequently appears before the New Jersey State Tax Courts and County Tax Boards on behalf of taxing districts and property owners in defending and litigating real property tax appeals.Mr. McBriar earned his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School where he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Francis Alessandro, New York City Civil Court, Bronx County. Prior to attending law school, he graduated from Boston College with a BS in Biology, Pre-Medical Program and a BA in English. He also attended St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University where he studied philosophy and literature.In 2012, Mr. McBriar was appointed to the District XB Ethics Committee serving West Morris and Sussex Counties. He is President of the Sussex County Bar Association and Member of the Board of Trustees of the 200 Club of Sussex County. He is also member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Warren County Bar Association, New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys and Sussex County Chamber of Commerce. He frequently volunteers for Legal Services of Northwest New Jersey.In 2014, Mr. McBriar was 1 of 49 lawyers in the State to be recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as a New Leader of the Bar. In 2015, he was awarded the Young Business Leader of the Year Award by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce.
