While my original training was in software development, my interests have long been in training, management and business development.After completing computer science studies at UQ, I immediately commenced a commerce degree part-time. This new knowledge, combined with Army Reserve officer training, allowed me to work in supervisory and mid-management roles in the ABS and Bond Corporation (after its takeover of Castlemaine Brewery).In late 1989, I left to commence my own IT consulting and training business, working in the area of systems development, project and quality management methodologies. During the years that I contracted with Qld Cotton, I developed the consulting business and learnt sales and hands-on business ownership skills.At the same time, I supported my wife's growing accountancy practice (1990- ). In recent years, Arabon has grown to a size that I needed to move to being its full-time business manager.Circumstance and my business background led me to accepting a position as a non-executive director with Binna Burra Lodge and a 15 month stint as Managing Director. Having completed the AICD's Company Directors Course, I believe that I have leadership and management skills at the company board level that could be used to help the right company.Covid brought me out of retirement in 2020 to be the Covid Response Manager at Centenary Dance Academy.
