I have worked for Ecorys in the Netherlands as an editor many times since 2012. Mostly, I am contracted to thoroughly check and edit reports prior to them being submitted to their client. They are usually long (around 100 pages), technical reports about economics and business - including innovation - often researched and written for the European Commission (DG Enterprise). I can work from a platform of a sound understanding of the economics and statistical methods discussed. As a native English speaker and editor, I am able to improve the flow and structure of the text.

I established Riffle & Pool Press in 2017 - a small company specialising in publishing illustrated maps and infographics. Working with independent illustrators and graphic designers we published the second edition of the Sussex Coastal Culture Trail Map & Guide in 2017 (the first edition was published in 2016) and the East Sussex Art & Culture Map & Guide (2018). I wrote proposals, raised finance, collaborated with illustrators and designers, wrote the copy, liaised with printers and co-ordinated distribution with local bookshops, galleries and tourist offices. More than 8,000 copies of the both maps and guides have been sold across Sussex and in London. In 2020 we produced a limited edition print of both maps combined, along with greetings cards. In March 2021 our team (Benjamin Phillips and Sarah Macbeth) completed a map & guide commission for Bishopstone Station for the South East Rail Partnership and the South Downs National Park. A follow-up commission for an illustrated map to be displayed on Seaford station was completed in April 2023.

Articles appeared in a number of print & online publications including: BBC Online, British Telecom magazine, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) magazine and BBC Countryfile Magazine (Feb 2023).

A wide range of editorial and authoring assignments: copy editing from 2003, monthly economic news and analysis of Taiwan from 2007 - 2013 and macro-economic analysis of Malaysia and Singapore since 2013. Custom research projects include policy advice for the Abu Dhabi Government and compiling the annual report that accompanies the Global Peace Index. Lead editor and project manager of a multi-client in-depth study of labour markets in Central and Eastern Europe (2008).

External editor of “Inequality in Asia and the Pacific in the era of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” . The report was written by several authors. I was asked by the editorial team in Thailand to help provide a coherent structure and flow. I also wrote the introduction and executive summary.
