I worked as a Diagnostic Technologist at Abbott Ireland Diagnostic Division in Longford, Ireland. My role was in solutions formulation. I was responsible for manufacturing the solutions for Abbotts diagnostic test kits. Through this role I have become very familiar with working in cleanroom environments and under GMP and GLP conditions. My work took place entirely in ISO class 8 and class 5 environments.

Berlin, Germany

As part of my degree I undertook a 12 week research project at Humboldt University of Berlin. The project investigated the growth mechanism of bimetallic nanoparticles. I conducted research independently and became very familiar with the UV-vis spectroscopy and small angle x-ray scattering. I concluded this project with by writing a thesis, which allowed me to develop my technical writing skills.

I worked as a research intern in Trinity College Dublin under the supervision of Prof. Yurii Gun’ko of the School of Chemistry. I undertook scientific research on exfoliation of the 2-D materials , molybdenum disulphide and tungsten disulphide, and I also performed circular dichroism studies on these materials. The work involved the frequent use of UV-vis spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy, and Circular Dichroism spectroscopy.
