About Robert Mcmahon
My name is Rob and I am a software architect living in Kitchener Ontario. I have always been an independent learner and the idea of mastering a new skill or hobby is exciting to me. I'm the kind of person who loves to take on a challenge and learn as much from the experience as possible.I have my most development experience creating web applications and application frameworks. At BlackBerry I assisted in developing a PHP MVC codeigniter web framework and a python web framework using webpy and bootstrap, knockoutjs and JQuery for UI. In my spare time I also develop various web applications including; an expense tracking software, a web based media server and an inventory system. I also have a great deal of experience in scripting languages such as perl, python and shell. One of my main roles at BlackBerry was adding requested features to the application and image build frameworks coded primarily using perl and python.As a member of a development team my greatest strength would be my ability to concurrently work on many small tasks without losing sight of the big picture. While working at BlackBerry I was a part of many large scale projects while developing self service web tools. The larger projects required connecting many small components from different team members in an agile environment. Managing my time with both development of web tools and project work has benefited my time management, team work and planning skills.While attending school the projects I was assigned were extremely interesting and varied. The program I attended was highly focused on Object Oriented Design and Data Management using mostly Microsoft technologies. When I started working at BlackBerry I was presented with the challenge of applying what I had learned at school to an entirely different environment. The opportunity to be learning such different technologies was invaluable to my growth as a software developer.
