"Warning: FoundSound CAN BE ADDICTIVE!FoundSound in schools, Libraries, youth groups, drum circles, as corporate event group rally events or office stress busters etc. Musical tones can be found almost everywhere and in almost everything, it all depends on how you listen and what you want to hear. Creating rhythm can be as easy as clapping your two hands together or as complicated as assembling a large rhythm/percussion kit from instruments made for specifically for a certain sound, like cymbals or drums. FoundSound is sort of a bit of each but the instruments might not come from a standard music shop it’s more likely they were created from recycled materials found in a ‘Blue Box’ or a scrap pile or maybe a second-hand shop or dollar store. It’s making musical/percussion instruments from non-musical materials and you’ll be surprised at the sounds and the sources.Robert can demonstrate, in a single class period, basic tones and rhythms to the students and show some world percussion instruments that somewhere back in their own history started out as a ‘FoundSound’ creations. With advance notice the class will receive a list of ‘BlueBox Specials’ students can track down at home and bring to class for the source recyclables needed to create a basic ‘FoundSound’ instrument. In extended class periods, held over days or weeks students get to experiment and create, finding their own sounds and rhythms through the making their own ‘FoundSound’ instruments and possibly create a school ‘FoundSound’ Orchestra.Robert can also facilitate workshops for teachers who would like to bring the world of rhythm into their own classrooms but are not familiar with the rhythm and percussion instruments that are becoming available in the school systems.
