About Robert Mcwilliam
Robert or as he is most commonly known, Bob McWilliam, has a background of working in the media. Previously, Bob worked for 15 years at BBC Audience Services/BBC Information until the closure of the Glasgow office on 14 May 2010. Following this closure, Bob was a freelance advisor for Digital UK the agency responsible for advising television viewers on the switchover from analogue to digital television transmission with information and drop-in sessions in the Glasgow and west central Scotland area.Bob is also a stalwart of the West of Scotland radio scene. He was the launch programme director of Q96 FM in September 1992 and an advisor to Dumbarton area small-scale ILR service Castle Rock FM from 1995 and appointed a director in February 2000. He resigned from the re-named Castle Rock FM (now called Your Radio) on 31 January 2004 after completing the successful transition from Castle Rock FM 103 to YOURradio, and the award of the Helensburgh area small-scale local commercial radio licence by the Radio Authority. He wrote the successful Ofcom application for the Celtic Music Radio community radio project and led this ‘community of interest’ station to air in January 2008 on 1530AM after two trial Ofcom RSLs for the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow in 2006 and 2007. He also submitted an application to Ofcom for an FM licence for Celtic Music Radio. This was successful with transmission on 95 FM from July 2014. Bob resigned from Celtic Music Radio in June 2015 after 10 years with the station and project.In 2017, Bob put together a team and licence application to Ofcom for a new licence to provide a service to Paisley and Renfrewshire. This application was successful with an award in February 2018 and the launch of Paisley FM 107.5 on 1 March 2019.Bob is very much a team player and takes on board other views as found in his Dr R. Meredith Belbin psychometric test at Glasgow Caledonian University in 1993.

Paisley FM 107.5 is a new Ofcom licensed radio station which is focussed on the Paisley and Renfrewshire area. Paisley FM is also a registered charity with Scottish regulator OSCR. Paisley FM commenced test transmissions on 107.5 FM on 1st March 2019 and regular programming on 18th March 2019. Paisley FM - Radio for Renfrewshire also transmits to the city of Glasgow on DAB+ digital radio.

In July 2012, Ofcom awarded Celtic Music Radio a licence to broadcast on the FM waveband. The switchover from 1530AM to 95.0 FM frequency on 1 July 2014. Bob left operational duties at Celtic Music Radio 95FM in March 2015 and resigned as a director on 4 June 2015.

The service was renamed BBC Audience Lines including social action helplines and programme information and then became BBC Information for general BBC viewer and listeners enquiries, programme comments and complaints via telephone, email and letter correspondence plus BBC Reception Advice and BBC Audience Services for tickets for shows at TVC and other studios. Made redundant when the Glasgow operation centre closed on 14 May 2010 and the service transferred to sister virtual office in Belfast.
