Researching 5-Dimensional Modeling of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) in Heavy-Ion Collisions under the advisement of Dr. Sean Bartz (continuation of research from SURE 2021). Poster attached presented at APS April Meeting 2023:- Mapping the phase boundary between ordinary nuclear matter and the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is an important project for both experiment and theory. Of particular interest is the search for the critical point, the value of temperature and baryon chemical potential where the smooth phase transition becomes discontinuous. Anti-de Sitter/Quantum Chromodynamics (AdS/QCD) is an application of the gauge/gravity duality that describes some aspects of nuclear matter, including the QGP. This work is an example of a soft-wall AdS/QCD model, which uses a dilaton field to set the overall energy scale and introduces a black hole to model thermodynamics. We study the chiral phase transition in a model with a coupling between the chiral field and the dilaton, which has been shown to produce a critical point. We study the effect of the quark mass and scalar-dilaton coupling coefficient on the location and existence of the critical point.- Numerically solved chiral phase transitions through a number of python scripts to find first-order (discontinuous) and crossover (continuous) phases transitions dependent on quark mass, baryonic chemical potential, and chiral-dilaton coupling strength.

With the SURE 2021 program, conducted research in 5-Dimensional Modeling of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) in Heavy-Ion Collisions under the advisement of Dr. Sean Bartz:- Worked in a kanban-style system in order to create and execute many differential equation solvers for QGP critical points with various parameters. This was completed via Python scripts to accumulate data for our models.- GitHub experience in order to check and verify programs between my partner and our advisor.- Presented to an audience on background information, current and future research.- Presented at the SURE 2021 Symposium held by Indiana State University, conveying ideas and teaching anyone interested in our topic.

Researched beta-amyloids in Alzheimer's disease and all-optical spin switching (AOS) with Dr. Guoping Zhang, publishing a paper on the latter topic:- Developed basic understanding for GROMACS software, creating models of molecules to be run through dynamic, organic systems.- Developed understanding of WEIN2K, in order to create lattice-crystal structures of materials for AOS.- Configured and used Fortran scripts to compute and return data of laser interactions with various materials, of varying sizes. These were executed on Indiana State University's supercluster computers, with over a dozen day-to-week long jobs at a time.- Processed dozens of plots and graphs of spin changes, refining the parameters of both the lasers and materials to find optimal AOS configurations.
