Robert served as an officer in the US Navy for 22 years, retiring at the rank of Commander. CIO in three publicly traded global corporations: K-12 (NYSE:LRN), LeapFrog (NYSE:LF) and Micros (Nasdaq:MCRS); VP/CIO of ViewSonic, $1B+ privately held publicly reporting global corporation. After retirement from the corporate world he served three years as the Chairman of the Palm Springs Measure J Commission and was elected Mayor of Palm Springs in 2015, retiring in 2019. Two years with Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co (Now KPMG Peat Warwick) as a Senior Consultant in Project Management. Consulting clients included Grumman Aerospace, GE Aerospace, and the Reagan White House. Spent 12 months at the White House as a Consultant to the President's Private Sector Survey on Cost Control (PPSSCC), also known as the Grace Commissioner. Industry reputation as a “turn-around” CIO with a specialty in leading the planning, installation and management of fully integrated and highly efficient and reliable Oracle based single instance global enterprise applications to replace inefficient and outdated architectures. Track record of rapid implementation and on time, on budget delivery of global systems for finance, distribution, product planning, supply chain, and business intelligence.Featured in August 1, 2005 CIO Magazine as a top “Turnaround CIO”. Recognized for IT innovation and leadership by Information Week Magazine Top 500 CIO’s in 2002, 2003, 2004. Recent keynote speaking engagements include Oracle CIO Executive Conference in San Francisco, Morgan Stanley CIO Conference in NY City, and All Russian CIO Symposium in Moscow, Russia. Speaker at Oracle World for October 2006 (Supply Chain), Computer World Storage World Conference in Orlando, Florida, in November 2006 (storage system strategies), and Gartner Group Data Center Conference in November, 2006. Elected Mayor of the City of Palm Springs on November 3rd, 2015, finishing first in a slate of 8 candidates for the office. Sworn in as Mayor on December 2nd, 2015 for a four year term. The last city-wide elected four year Mayor of the City of Palm Springs. In November 2019 the City moved from city-wide at-large elections for Mayor and four at-large Council Members to a district representative form of local government. The Mayor is now an annually rotating position amongst the five Council Members each elected from one of five individual districts.
