Duties consist of long and short term planning in a variety of aspects which include weekly short term planning for the day to day operations of the electrical department and planning ahead for large project’s to ensure deadlines are met on time & on budget. The maintenance platform currently used is the SAP Prometheus Navigator, it is through this platform I preform the majority of my job functions which include creating corrective maintenance and breakdown work orders, develop work order packages, ensuring labor availably to complete assigned work and creating purchase requisitions for the acquisition of tools & materials. Other responsibilities include providing cost estimates on project’s, sourcing parts and services from multiple vendors & contractors to minimize expenditures, managing material stock & adding new materials to inventory, creation of preventative maintenance plans for mobile & stationary equipment to maximize availability & providing field support as needed to maintenance crews.
Underground Maintenance Electrician
Performing preventative maintenance checks on crushers, loci’s, lead acid batteries, various motor’s and electric pumps. Installation & alteration of electrical systems within the mine, such as femco & leaky feeder communication systems, blasting line installations, 13.8KV-4160V-600V electrical substations installation, installation of various size fan & pump starters, GFI units to power underground equipment, installation of sump pumps, float switches & lighting systems. Responsibility’s also included troubleshooting of all equipment installed, along with the electrical systems of mobile equipment such as long hole drills, diamond drills, jumbo drills, loci’s & ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner to meet production goals.
Processing Plant Technician
Performing preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems including flushing of lines, maintenance on heat ex-changer’s, cleaning of storage tanks, taking samples of process fluids and testing for specific gravity’s, ensuring integrity of operating systems within the processing plant and performing mechanical / electrical isolation’s (LOTO) to insure zero energy potential using P&ID Drawings. Other responsibilities included entering, updating and processing work notifications for maintenance purposes using the SAP program.
Journeyman Electrician
Leading a small crew under the direction of a foreman in tasks including cable pulls, mounting of raceways, uni-strut, control cabinets, termination of power / control cables and interpreting blue prints and electrical drawings. Work also pertained to completing associated paper work with tasks that have been completed and any deficiencies.

Work consists of replacing existing parts of a hydroelectric turbine, mounting new control cabinets for governors, instrumentation control panels and UCB’s. Installation and termination of power control conductors and installing conduit and cable trays as well as interpreting electrical blue prints and schematics.

As part of the Muskrat Falls Hydroelectric Project work completed included; interpreting electrical blue prints, installing rigid and EMT conduit, cable trays, and uni-strut, hanging of lighting fixtures and installation of emergency lighting, pulling conductors and laying cable in raceways, installing temporary circuits for the purpose of lighting and power sources. The majority of these tasks were completed using scissor and boom lifts.
