Accomplishments/Retrofits1. 600 Montgomery, SF (Trans America Building) Structural Steel Seismic Retrofit of the spire “Pyramid” This encompassed adding new steel bracing and stairs in the spire at elevation 500’ and re-welding of the existing column splices on the 47th and 50th floors. My team and I came up with the idea to use a full-scale mock up in the fabrication shop to mimic the inaccessible location of the exterior side of the column splice. This enabled us to preform this work efficiently and safely. Working closely with the structural steel engineer of record and steel expertise, this project was a success, under budget, and beat the schedule. 2. 400 – 430 California, SF. Structural Steel Seismic Retrofit. This building was particular difficult due to adding Damp Tech Dampers and BRB (Buckling Restraint Braces) into a crawl space. My team and I came up with a roller system where the steel was hoisted from the street level.to the roof then man handled on rollers into the crawl space. We fabricated a cradle system to hoist and hold the steel components in place while the field welding and connections were completed. This solution was another huge success. It was under budget and ahead of schedule. 3. The Masy Residence- This is a 35,000SF residence that was designed by Frank Gehry. He is a world-renowned architect. All of Frank’s designs are one of a kind. There is not a straight piece of structural steel in the structure. This unique residence created critical thinking in order to erect the steel while supporting each piece during the erection process. This included pre-planning and a critical pick plan for the sequence of erection. With all of the fabrication and erection challenges, we finished ahead of schedule and under budget. 4. 345 Montgomery Seismic Retrofit5. One West Side Seismic Retrofit
