Starting with not much more than a problem definition and a few hints, in a matter of months, Robert designed and coded a database engine in pure C from the ground up to replace berkeleyDB in our shop. It supports multithreaded callers, deadlock free page level read/write concurrence, n-level AVL tree to allow indefinite growth with no rebuild required, makes use of direct mmap() system calls with no external libraries whatsoever, and absolutely destroys berkeleyDB in benchmarks. Robert is an incredible, yet very humble resource and I cannot say enough good things about him."
