Undertaking detailed building surveys, party wall matters, architectural design and specifications, overseeing building works, expert witness reports, subsidence investigations, dealing with insurance claims, dilapidations and refurbishment work.

I have a wealth of experience in the diagnosis of building defects which applies to properties of all ages, including older listed buildings, traditional timber framed houses and even some thatched property. As Principal, I take instructions directly from Clients, discussing their requirements, confirming my terms of engagement and, following submission of my report, discussing findings. In some cases further investigation is required, in particular where evidence of foundation movement, or floor slab subsidence is found on the survey, a common problem with many properties in my locality, due to the prevalence of shrinkable clay subsoils. I also have considerable experience in undertaking such further investigations, including the excavation of trial pits and boreholes, the taking of relevant soil samples for laboratory analysis, monitoring movement with a precise engineer’s level, monitoring cracks with “Demec” studs and a vernier calliper, identifying trees and their water demand, and subsequently preparing detailed reports outlining the cause of the movement and the remedial work required. I am a member of the Thames Valley branch of The Pyramus & Thisbe Club, the organisation for professionals specialising in party wall matters and I regularly advise Clients on the procedures to be followed when building work involves a party wall or excavations in the close proximity of neighbouring property, to comply with the Party Wall etc., Act 1996. I serve notices under "the Act" on behalf of Clients, prepare schedules of condition and prepare Party Wall Awards to resolve disputes under section 10 of "the Act".More recently, I became a Chartered Building Engineer in September 2014 and following further exams became a Certified Member of the Association for Project Safety in January 2017.I relocated to Herne Bay in August 2020 and have now retired.
