The Green Building program trains building operators in Green Building strategies to increase their value as workers and develop our workforce to help transition the multifamily building stock towards high performance buildings. Hired in 2009 to coordinate training for a $2.8 million federal grant project, I worked with subject matter experts to develop a ‘Green Supers’ curriculum and coordinate classes that have trained and certified over 2,000 union members. I went on to manage a similar project that developed an advanced training curriculum for Multifamily Building Analysts under a NYSERDA grant. I also developed a LEED Green Associate course for building staff, resources for LEED AP O&M training and various short seminars. These initiatives established a broad Green Buildings training program that allows union members to be trained and certified as Green Building Operators, Green Building Analysts and LEED professionals.
