From October 1997 through February 2001, Mr. Murdock served as Chairman, President and CEO of Petroglyph Energy, Inc., a NASDAQ company. In 1997, Mr. Murdock led Petroglyph Energy through its initial public offering, selling 50% of company. The equity from the offering supported oil and natural gas drilling and development activities in Utah and Colorado, where the company drilled 165 wells and operated large-scale waterflood and coalbed methane projects. As a result of these development activities from 1996 through 2000, Petroglyph Energy’s proved oil and natural gas reserves increased from 11 million BOE to 25 million BOE, and over the same period its SEC PV-10 increased from $64 million to $232 million. In December 2000, Petroglyph Energy’s majority shareholder acquired all outstanding stock and took the company private.

From April 1993 through September 1997, Mr. Murdock served as General Partner of Petroglyph Gas Partners, L.P. Mr. Murdock organized the formation of Petroglyph Gas Partners, L.P. with Natural Gas Partners to engage in the acquisition and exploitation of oil and natural gas properties in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. In 1997 the partnership sold non-core assets, retained core properties in the Uinta Basin of Utah and the Raton Basin of Colorado as the asset base for the formation Petroglyph Energy, Inc.

In July 1985 Mr. Murdock founded GasTrak Corporation, one of the first independent natural gas trading companies formed in response to the FERC’s re-structuring of the interstate gas transmission business. GasTrak also developed and operated natural gas gathering and processing projects in Kansas and Oklahoma. As president, Mr. Murdock led GasTrak's growth from start-up in 1985 through exit in 1989, when it merged with XCL Sunrise, Inc. an AMEX company.
