Operation Supervisor
- Operating 7 owned and time chartered Woodchip carrier vessels.- Carriage of Woodchip, Soyabean Meal, Grain, Scrap Metal and Metcoke cargoes.- Port visits to conduct detailed reports of terminal facilities, vessels condition and crew.- Contact with ship manager in order to achieve safe operation of voyages.- Monthly reporting of voyage accounts to head office in Tokyo and chartering division.- Invoicing of hire/freight and accurate internal reporting of financial data.- Departmental point of contact for Internal auditing.- Creating workflows for recording financial and historical data.- Awareness of up to date bunkering regulations and early planning to ensure availability.- Checking bunker calculations and tank configuration.- Authorising and checking load plans and documentation.- Create laytime calculation and hire statements.- Negotiation and payment of port disbursements.
Shipping Operations Executive
- Manage owned and time chartered vessels moving cargoes of bulk iron ore and coal. - Arranging bunkers for safe transit of vessels while considering viable alternative options to limit costs.- Resolving legal issues including bunker disputes with vessel owners, charterers and suppliers. - Very similar duties to my role at GMI and Mitsui O.S.K.
Shipping Operations
- Operating the day to day requirements of up to 20 panamax and capesize vessels. - Movement of cargo on behalf of third party clients.- Contact with Captains regarding the loading/discharging of iron ore and coal around the globe.- Ensuring all documents are rcvd and creating laytime or final hire statements.- Auditing and closure of old outstanding fixtures and disbursement accounts.- This employment was very similar to the job I was performing at GMI.
Post Fixture
- Managing around 100 completed time chartered in/out, voyage and COA fixtures. - Finalisation of fixtures with regular chasing of contractual counter parties.- Approving commission invoices for vessels and FFA fixtures.- Keeping internal record up to date and in accordance with ISO: 2001 procedures.- Arrange FD & D cover with P&I Club for chartered in vessels.- Work alongside/assist the P&I Clubs to recover disputed funds. - Settle outstanding disputes in an amicable and professional way.
Export Shipment Manager
- Export of containers to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America. - High level of customer service in creating bookings for customers and entering them into the system.- Requesting haulage for the delivery of the container for loading and collection. - Focal point for several major overseas accounts including GKN (Spain/Italy/UK) and Imperial Tobacco. - Liaising closely with customers to ensure movement was made in the most cost/time effective way.- Solving any problems that arise when transporting containers.
Trainee Broker
- Successfully trading deals with principles and brokers. - Monitoring and entering of vessel positions around the world.- General administration work and office contracts. - Computer maintenance, installing and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.- Setting up and training the workforce to use new software/hardware.
