Managed a 129K retail home improvement store with sales exceeding $75 million annually. Direct reports included 10 assistant managers and 235 associates. Responsibilities included, but are not limited to, maintaining store standards, all P&L responsibilities, maintaining great customer service, cultivating relationships with our outside vendor partners and home improvement installers. Store exceeded company objectives in a number of metrics by increasing annual sales by $10 million for four consecutive years. Other improvements included increasing Installed Sales, Special Order Sales, Commercial Sales, increased average ticket, increased customer satisfaction scores, employee satisfaction surveys and operational reviews.

Managed a 90K retail discount store with sales exceeding $18 million annually. Direct reports included 7 assistant managers and 165 associates. Responsibilities included, but are not limited to, maintaining store standards, all P&L responsibilities, and maintaining great customer service. Store exceeded company objectives by increasing annual sales by $1 million. Other improvements included increasing average ticket, increased customer satisfaction scores, employee satisfaction surveys and operational reviews.

Southern & Southwestern Region

Responsible for merchandising stores in the Southern Region across 12 states for 450 stores focused on assortment, timing, quality, execution and overall profitability. Worked closely with Buyers and Inventory Mangement Teams to insure stores were properly merchandised. Worked closely with the store teams in training and development with product knowledge, store presentation, pog integrity and sales promotion.

Troy, Mi

Oversaw and directed the coordination and organization of revising, publishing, disseminating and maintaining of policy and procedural information for corporate headquarters, regional offices, distribution centers, and all stores in the chain. Direct reports include three managers and 32 procedural writers. Major accomplishments included creating a standard format that all published materials used in the Chain had to follow. Reduced the number of reference materials from 129 to 26 for the stores. Consolidated all of the procedure writers from the different departments (Accounting, Payroll, Grocery, Operations, IT) into one area to simplify the dissemination of material.

Midwestern And Western Regions

Oversaw and directed store operations in the Midwest and Western regions consisting of 450 stores with over $2.3 billion in annual sales. Full responsibility for creating and implementing sales and profit plan for the regions, implementing of corporate policies through delegation and strong follow-up and identification of weaknesses while maximizing productivity and profitability. Oversaw the development of five Regional staff associates, 34 district managers, and 450 apparel managers. Major accomplishments included reducing store shrinkage to .52% for three consecutive years which was the best in the chain, meeting and exceeding all budgeted metrics.

Eastern And Southwestern Regions

Responsibilities included recruiting of management trainees, training and development of district managers, setting up and administering invisible waste programs within the region, controlling and reducing operational expenses, identifying areas to increase profitability, and ensuring follow-up and execution of all store display and operational procedures. Major accomplishments included devising a shrinkage checklist that was rolled out to the chain and with its success I was promoted to a newly created Southwest Region to focus on reducing shrink for these stores.
