I am an experienced corporate advisor, helping clients to deliver public and private acquisitions, capital raisings and corporate projects in a range of industries, primarily as a partner in Herbert Smith Freehills for 28 years. I served on the Freehills board for 10 years, with 3 years as chairman in the lead up to the firm’s merger with Herbert Smith, in which I was closely involved. The firm now has a strong global platform with 500 partners in 28 offices, revenue of $2 billion and a fully integrated business model.From October 2019, I have continued to work on client assignments and firm projects as a Senior Advisor with the firm but am available to undertake other roles outside the firm. I am interested in governance roles in both the listed and unlisted environment. I welcome the opportunity to work with companies with strong business models but which face particular challenges, including regulatory, restructuring or growth challenges, or in undertaking acquisitions or raising capital.I developed risk and governance skills from my roles with Herbert Smith Freehills as a business and my work with listed and unlisted clients in many different circumstances. My experience with Nucleus Network, Baker and Landcare and, more recently, Port of Melbourne, has added to these skills. I have direct experience in strategy development and implementation and in managing senior executives and staff, including with respect to recruitment, remuneration and career development.I have extensive experience in undertaking M&A, capital markets, restructures and capital intensive greenfield projects; dealing with governments and regulators; and doing business in Asia, especially China, Singapore, Korea and Japan.I have experience in various industry sectors including funds management, infrastructure, energy, industrials, consumer products and forestry. I have worked extensively with government and in dealing with governments and regulators.
