About Robert Nutt
Dr. Nutt is a passionate clinician and creative thinker with proven dedication to improving the lives of children and their families through interdisciplinary clinical modeling and innovative programming. He has enthusiastically shared his insight through leadership, mentoring, research, membership on state and national task forces, as well as submitted and invited presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.Dr. Nutt was born in Portsmouth, VA and grew up in Blue Bell, PA (outside Philadelphia). He attended Chestnut Hill Academy where he was a tri-Varsity athlete throughout high school and graduated in the top 10% of his class. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College with an academic focus in both Biochemistry-Molecular Biology and Religious Studies. He received his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine (Dartmouth). Dr. Nutt completed his residency training in Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Golisano Children's Hospital in 2012. He then completed additional fellowship training in Academic General Pediatrics (2012-2014) and Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics (2014-2016), as well as collaborative interdisciplinary training as a fellow in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program (2014-2015). The LEND fellowship is a national leadership program focused on improving the health of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and special healthcare needs and supported by funding from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. He received his Master’s in Public Health degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry (2016). After three years with the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics division of Atrium Healthcare System (Charlotte/Concord) he joined the Clinic for Special Children in Wilmington, North Carolina.Driven to improve our understanding of the interactions between deafness and developmental disabilities, Dr. Nutt has worked with numerous organizations to improve the experience of patients and their families after receiving a new diagnosis of hearing loss. Through this work, he has engaged in larger conversations relating to health disparities in underserved or socially vulnerable populations. Technology has been an ubiquitous element of finding solutions to complex problems, and Rob has worked with several engineering teams in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rochester to finding solutions to complex situations. Rob has enjoyed sharing his inspirational story as a mentor and motivational speaker.
