My current role is Director of Consumer Underwriting (non real estate). I am primarily responsible for the underwriting procedures, practices, and production related to products that include credit cards, personal loans and lines, automobile (direct and indirect), all other consumer non RE such as CD, boat, RV, and other depreciating collateral. In this position people management is everything. I am responsible for the training, coaching, development, engagement, as well as the overall adherence to RCRM’s governing policies for our consumer underwriting employees.Areas of involvement and influence include:• Risk strategy validations and challenges via Decision Quality Review (DQR).• Exception management and monitoring with portfolio risk managers.• Risk First Line of Defense Subject Matter Expert (SME) and control partner.• Risk and Controls development and monitoring in JIRA.• Active participant in line of business product development initiatives.• Engaged with risk governance committees RRIC, RRMC, and PWG.• Participant in SWAT which is BBVAs emergency response to production issues.• Responsible for Quality Control rebuttals and/or associated coaching.• Accountable for responses to Fair Lending, Legal, Compliance, or other outside reviews.

Manage the consumer loan (non real estate) group including credit card for the entire BBVA Compass footprint. Responsible for managing end to end underwriting process.

Underwrite mortgage loans in need of modification due to currently being in or facing imminent default.Update department policies & procedures manual to provide clear and consistant guidelines.Work with CFPB readiness team to implement all necessary required changes by January 2014.Lead the team to conform to the newly defined P&P to ensure quality and improve efficiency..Completed several conferences, training events, eCornell, and Harvard Management courses made available through participation in BBVA's Top Talent program.

Underwrite FNMA products.Underwrite all first mortgage portfolio products offer by BBVA Compass including wealth management.Participated in the best practices committee with senior management.Actively particpated in BBVA's Top Talent program.

Time here was cut short due to RBC being sold. I chose to leave prior to PNC acquisition. Initially took the position to get into management but the small Bham ops center is likely to be closed by PNC. Took an opportunity to get back into underwriting with BBVA Compass.

Started as a SR processor but earned UW authority for FNMA, Freddie, and Regions portfolio programs. Only reason I left was to take an opportunity to get into management with RBC.
