This course involves introducing students to the fundamentals of process control. Topics include control valve selection and sizing, PID control, and classical controller tuning methods.Corrosion Engineering - I have provided guest lectures in this course that is taken by both undergraduate and graduate students. Topics I have lectured on include stress-corrosion cracking (abbreviated as SCC and is also known as environmentally-assisted corrosion), pitting, crevice corrosion, flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC), and Pourbaix (potential vs. pH) diagrams.Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics - Topics include VLE calculations, chemical reaction equilibria, real gas behaviour, and departures from ideality.Chemical Engineering Laboratory I - This is the first laboratory course the undergraduate students take in chemical engineering. The first section of the course dealt with safety and a survey of historical engineering accidents. This was followed by proper report writing and an introduction to using Microsoft Word and Excel. The second section involved a thermodynamic efficiency test of the UNB Central Heating Plant. The students performed actual engineering measurements on-site and presented their findings. The final section involved experiments on topics in fluid mechanics, specifically pumps, head loss, and flowmeters.
