About Robert Ormston

I am an all around nature enthusiast! I have always had a keen interest in all living things, and a passion for environmental stewardship and conservation. Naturally, I have pursued an education and career in the environmental sector. I'm hoping to use this profile to highlight my experience. I'm very new to LinkedIn and am still building my profile, and learning to use the website!I studied environmental science and studies at Trent University for 5 years, and worked as a summer student at Presqu'ile Provincial Park during that time, doing nature & history interpretation. I graduated from Trent in 2021 and completed a community based research project to finish my degree. Following this, I started working at Quinte Conservation, as a summer student doing outreach and stewardship programming. At the end of the summer, I had the privilege of being able to continue working there full time for the next 2 years. Currently, I am looking for work in the Peterborough/Kawarthas/York Region area so I can move in with my partner who is working in that area. When I'm not working, I love spending my free time exploring local natural areas to see what species are around - you can see some of my finds on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/people/747431

These efforts helps record several new instances of threatened and endangered species on QC lands. The data collected during these inventories was used to support Quinte Conservation's Managed Forest CertificationVarious community outreach and stewardship programs: I regularly assisted community partners with a variety of different projects. Sometimes this entailed working on naturalization projects with municipalities, attending outreach events to provide information on CA programs and stewardship advice, and working with volunteer groups on various stewardship projects.Assisting other departments with duties: I regularly partnered with regulations and stewardship staff to help identify plants and plant communities for wetland delineation.
