Robert P. is a Product Design Engineer at Acsiom, LLC. Colleagues describe them as "I have had the pleasure of working with Bob Pelovitz for over six years, both at Keurig and most recently at Drinkworks where I was Bob’s direct supervisor. At both companies he has had the role of Principal Software Engineer, often leading other software engineers in the development of new coffee brewers, a single serve soda appliance and a home cocktail appliance, respectively. In addition to team leadership, Bob has designed major portions of the firmware for all appliances, many manufacturing and life test systems and R&D efforts. In all instances, Bob has shown to be one of the primary driving forces in the delivery of the product to market. Bob immerses himself in all aspects of the product and becomes the bridge that connects all the disciplines together to minimize delays and to ensure product quality. Bob shows up each day with an agenda and works towards accomplishing his goals yet will always take time to mentor a colleague or give advice on how to accomplish a task. His knowledge of software techniques is vast and coding structure is perhaps the best I have seen. Skilled at many types of product development, Bob shines in complex electromechanical systems where his knowledge and experience of the interaction of actuators and sensors leads to robust, solid, and highly modifiable code to optimize system performance and to simplify reuse on other projects. This aspect was critical in our fast-paced development environment, where we had limited resources. Bob is personable and friendly and is a pleasure to work alongside. Over this 12-year period I have seen Bob grow professionally in his technical prowess, product development and technical leadership abilities both at Keurig and Drinkworks. I watched Bob’s responsibilities grow from electrical engineer to that of a principal controls / software engineer. He met each of these positions’ responsibilities with high level of execution and success. He was a key leader and mentor to many within the company. Bob is a very hands-on engineer spending the necessary time to completely understand the principal of operations of each individual appliance / system. He was knowledgeable in the mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal operations and how they transferred into software code. Bob was very sensitive to the user’s and their interaction with each appliance, always working to keep that interaction simple. During that 12-year period Bob was involved in designing and developing software for about a dozen appliances. In addition, he wrote code for test stations for any associate that needed his assistance. The appliances evolved with time and took advantage of communications protocol first Cellular, then Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The communications technology allowed for the uploading of performance information of each discrete machine and the ability to download the most recent firmware to those machines. Users were able to download the most recent firmware via their mobile app. Bob was instrumental in the creation, development, writing firmware and implementing the system. This was a major accomplishment and introduction into the small appliance category. Bob also worked with customer service team to understand any issues that customers were seeing and how he could improve the appliance operation. Utilizing the communication abilities, new updated firmware was produced, tested, and uploaded to the appropriate appliances. Bob was also instrumental in the manufacturing, testing, and launching of appliances. He spent many months at our contract manufacturers in Asia during the entire manufacturing kickoff process. He setup test stands and protocol with the CM’s and helped to train their engineers and technicians. Bob is extremely passionate about is job, his peers and those associated companies.
