Supported entire MetaSwitch deployed equipment from 2008 until 2012. From 2012 on worked as Call Feature Server / Universal Media Gateway specialist. At my peak I was supporting 56 customers as a primary contact, (more then double as compared to most other engineers), and the highest of any. My experience supporting all the MetaSwitch products allowed me to build a good "big picture" of how the deployment worked, (and signalling flows within it). This helped me to make sure the config was as it should be. This then helped to assure the equipment worked as it should, and had minimal problems. Within MetaSwitch I was known to be quite skilled with translations, and any transport related activities. I was often involved in troubleshooting elusive, complex problems while assisting other engineers. I was well known to be quite good at troubleshooting fax problems, (a big thing when it comes to VoIP telephony)Was primary engineer responsible for the implementation of a "loss plan" in the MetaSwitch. This helped to more closely emulate legacy switch behavior's. This served to minimize echo on VoIP connections, and to help fax calls be more likely to succeed.

Worked as a contractor to provide technical assistance for large customer moving subscribers from legacy switching platforms onto the MetaSwitch. This included troubleshooting GR303, and ISDN connected subscribers.

Assisted as a contractor in the migration of ISUP trunks off a DMS 250, (pending decommission),onto a DMS 500. Was responsible for: - wiring all the DS1's on the DSX - building all circuits into the TG's - Testing of transport facilities - Assisted in the turnup of GR303 IDT's in remote central offices

Managed 11 field technicians delivering DSL services across MI. Responsible for the activation of 70 Central offices with Nortel Promontory DSLAM's. This was done over a 10 month period. Trained all technicians on troubleshooting cable pairs. Involved with training tech's on navigating customer site cable plant and how to troubleshoot. As a result, we had a success rate of over 50% activation on first truck roll.

Moved into position at the beginning of October to facilitate the activation of a new Class 5 switch. Arriving on site, found no trunks turned up. SS7 was in a state of flux. Tellabs Titan DAC's deployed with many configuration problems.In 30 days I facilitated a complete reconfiguration of the Titan, (involved moving cards around in the chassis). I threw all the physical cross-connects on a DS1 DSX, (from DAC's to DTC's), and rebuilt all DS1 cross-connects in the DAC's . Followed up with engineering to get the records corrected for all this. Doing this enabled me to quickly turn up *all* the trunks, (filled the DTC's), to Michigan tandems and end offices.While I was doing that, I was managing a team of SONET installers, and brought 2 OC-48 rings into the switch site. We also turned up an entire AT&T Internet Modem hub served by the DMS500, (ISDN PRI connected).Turned up 20 Reltec DISCS IDT's, (GR303), into remote central offices. Also turned up one Nortel Access node in the site for phone service.

Facilitated the installation of SONET OC-48 rings for transport from AT&T long distance sites to Ameritech central office POP's. Also managed the migration of AT&T circuits onto the new facilities created. This included building out the Co-Lo cages in the POP's, and the creation of budgets necessary to be approved for new SONET rings. In one instance this meant getting a new OC48 ring installed, and turned up in 2 weeks.Responsible for the activation of over 100 SLC2000 GR303 IDT's in the Chicago market. This included provisioning of DS1 cross-connects in Tellabs Titan DAC's, and in Lucent DACs 4. This also Involved building IDT DS1 connections in 5ESS switching system.

Responsible for managing switch translations to support Cell Sites, and mobile operations. Responsible for adding new base stations to the config, and helping to migrate cell sites onto. This included provisioning in a Tellabs 532L DAC's. Responsible for troubleshooting, and maintaining SS7, including connectivity to HLR. Implemented loss plan in DMS that fixed most of the echo problems previously experienced on calls using mobile phones.

Responsible for physically moving Rolm PBX, and all data connections supporting sales site to a new building over a single weekend. Responsible for managing Novelle networking in multiple outside plant operations sites.

Responsible for testing, and turnup of network trunks to distant MCI switches, and to ILEC central offices. Responsible for testing all "in service" network trunks one or more times per month. Responsible for resolving all problems found.Migrated over 60,000 MF feature group D circuits to SS7 signaling. This was done on a Nortel DMS250 switch, and on a DEX 600E. Remote connected switches included Nortel DMS250, Lucent 5ESS, Lucent 1A/2A ESS, Siemons EWSD, and GTD5.Involved in the migration of subscribers and trunks from DEX400 onto DEX600E.Solely responsible for installing, configuring, and training associated with an early version of "OPSNET" connectivity onsite, (productivity enhancement). This allowed all technicians to walk up to any terminal, login, and pull their resources to them, (including serial connections to various "shared" resources. This included IBM VTAM access, and OS2 DB2 database access.

Responsible for moves, adds, and changes for employee phones, and services. Responsibilities included pulling cables, and throwing cross-connects. Also responsible for X.25 statistical multiplexor network serving remote sales offices, which provided access to network switches for the translations team. This included doing routing within the multiplexors when links went down. Troubleshot all links, and fixed all errors found, to stabilize the network.Responsible for translations in ROLM PBX serving employees. Turned up local microwave systems to facilitate DS1 connections between offices / PBX's for tie trunk access.

Responsible for doing moves, adds, and changes for GM employees at their world headquarters. This included throwing cross-connects moving connections to new locations. This included configuring and deploying new phones for new employees.

Responsible for testing, and turnup of feature group A circuits. Responsible for testing and turnup of data packages / circuits across analog baseband mux. Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of DANRAY CTSS 1000, and CTSS 4000 switching systems. Responsible for the first implementation of a quality control program at SPRINT, (ARTS = Auto Routine Test System). The Detroit office recieved the first HP computer baseband test devices, and used that to develop ARTS. As a first step, we manually tested, and adjusted all circuits in house to meet spec, (or beter). Doing so helped us to establish the baseline for the rest of the network for testing, and to develop the processes to deploy.
