Selected for internship at observatory with significant scientific heritage of discoveries, including the first detection of the expanding nature of the universe and the discovery of Pluto. Assisted the Principal Investigator in analyzing data from Lowell’s instrument. Worked independently to generate graphs, images, and data using DS9 software.• Analyzed data and processed images for the High Infrared Pluto Occultation (HIPO) instrument for NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) program. • Prepared and delivered presentations on findings to members of the scientific community.

Working under the lead systems engineering and program manager, determined power and optical budgets for the plane and all on-board systems. Participated in determining optical performance and pointing of infrared telescope.• Selected as first intern for SOFIA, a joint program between NASA and the German Aerospace Center DLR, in 2010 to support the program’s first airborne science observations in winter 2010. Became 1 of 10 interns selected in 2011. • Validated and verified requirements for systems and subsystems, gaining exposure to various aspects of aeronautics, computer science, astronomy, physics, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.• Presented project progress and findings to industry and scientific experts and co-authored internal documents. • Granted a NASA Security Clearance.
