About Robert Peralta
My career path to space systems engineering began in grade school. After watching a video on John Glenn’s final flight, I was hooked! I began regularly visiting Lowell Observatory—home of the discovery of Pluto—for lectures and exhibits, and I took every available astronomy class in high school. At Northern Arizona University, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics (Astronomy emphasis), and I am currently attending Cranfield University in the UK, pursuing a master’s degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering. My education is complemented by my hands-on experience gained through internships with NASA’s SOFIA program at the Armstrong Flight Research Center and at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, as well as nanotechnology research experience at NAU’s Department of Physics. All of these experiences—from attending astronomy lectures to validating system requirements for NASA’s airborne observatory—have prepared me for the next step in my career. Now, I’m eager to apply my training, education, and determination to advance the mission of an organization working in the aerospace industry. TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficient in SolidWorks, CATIA V5, MATLAB, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of VBA, Patran/Nastran, ESATAN, DS9 imaging software, and Zmax optical software.
