CurrentConducts full-scale investigations to determine whether products are defective and present substantial hazards to consumers; this includes: incident data collection and analysis, hazard identification, leading technical evaluations, composing and editing Corrective Action Plans.Collects and critically analyzes large amounts of data from multiple (and often times conflicting) sources; Draws inferences and conclusions from self-curated data sets to inform further evidence-based investigation and enforcement actions. Summarizes information to brief senior level staff.Communicates and coordinates, both orally and in writing, the entirety of the voluntary recall process, from beginning to end, with both external and internal stakeholders of various levels; this includes: determining investigative strategies, collecting and analyzing incident data, presenting data based conclusions to technical staff and senior executives, making determinations on appropriate enforcement actions, negotiating recall remedies and corrective actions with outside counsel, coordinating media and press release logistics both inside and outside of the agency, and monitoring effectiveness of product recalls.Drafts / Coordinates the drafting of press releases and other public notices. Prepare memoranda to communicate actions and recommendations to other offices.Develops overarching guidelines and case strategies for the existing compliance program.Provides guidance to other offices, field investigators, industry figureheads, and the public.Represents the Commission in communications with companies, trade associations, and other government agencies.
